Hawks Netball Club is a senior netball club in Leicester, established in 2004. Back at the beginning we were a work team called Hamilton Hornets which soon became Hamilton Hawks, and then just 'Hawks' after our first season. After growing by taking on new members in the community, adding friends, colleagues, family members (or dragging along anyone intersted in playing netball!) etc, we've steadily grown into a 5-team club with a complete mixture of ladies and levels of netball offered. We have close links to back to netball programmes, and have enjoyed bringing in new players and teams into the competitive environment and progressing their confidence and skills to go on to create new Hawks squads who have entered leagues as fully fledged netball teams! We welcome all levels of players and have a big ethos at Hawks to aim to provide netball for everyone: all players, all levels, all fun.
We are just starting out in the Junior set up, with some small Bee Netball sessions introduced in late 2019/early 2020. This offers children aged 5-11 years the chance to get started in netball, grow their physical skills and confidence, make new friends and have fun - hopefully inspiring new netballers to love the sport we are all so passionate about!
Over the years our teams have changed, been promoted and relegated but currently have presence in both the Leicester and Loughborough Premier divisions, as well as the Championsite, Division1 and Division 2 in Leicester, which is our main local league. We have a wonderful netball family consisting of 50+ women who don our blue Hawks dresses!
Juniors
We are just starting out in the Junior set up, with some small Bee Netball sessions introduced in late 2019/early 2020. This offers children aged 5-11 years the chance to get started in netball, grow their physical skills and confidence, make new friends and have fun - hopefully inspiring new netballers to love the sport we are all so passionate about! Our journey into Bee Netball resulted in approx 20 new youngsters joining us for fun and friendly netball sessions in line with the England Netball 'Bee Netball' programme.
Future
We have big ambitions for 2020-21 and hope to introduce junior netball (11-16 years) and a new Regional squad to increase our elite level players opportunities.
